Belkyra, also known as Kybella in some regions, is primarily indicated for reducing submental fat, commonly referred to as a “double chin.” While it has been used off-label for other areas of fat accumulation, such as the abdomen, it’s essential to note that its safety and efficacy for belly fat removal have not been as extensively studied as its use for double chin reduction.

Treatment Sessions

Session 1: At your first treatment session, your provider would administer a series of injections of Belkyra into the targeted areas of fat on your abdomen. The injections would be strategically placed to ensure even distribution and effective treatment. The procedure typically takes about 15 to 20 minutes.
Session 2: Typically scheduled about 4 to 6 weeks after the first session, the second treatment session would follow a similar process to the initial one. Additional injections may be administered as needed to achieve optimal results.
Session 3: The third session would be scheduled another 4 to 6 weeks after the second session. By this point, you may start to notice visible improvements in the contour of your abdomen. The final session helps to further refine and enhance the results.

Recovery

After each treatment session, you can expect some degree of swelling, bruising, and discomfort in the treated area. These side effects are normal and usually resolve within a few days to a couple of weeks. Your provider may provide recommendations for managing any discomfort and minimizing swelling during the recovery period.

Results

Over the course of several weeks following the completion of the treatment series, you’ll begin to see noticeable improvements in the contour of your abdomen as the fat cells are gradually eliminated by the body’s natural processes. Full results typically become evident within a few months after completing the treatment series.

Follow-Up and Maintenance

Your provider will schedule follow-up appointments to monitor your progress and ensure you’re satisfied with the results. While Belkyra offers long-lasting fat reduction, maintenance treatments may be recommended periodically to maintain the desired outcome.
