Belkyra, also known as Kybella in some regions, is a non-surgical cosmetic treatment specifically designed to reduce submental fat, commonly referred to as a “double chin.” It involves a series of injections administered under the chin to target and destroy fat cells, resulting in a more contoured jawline and a reduction in the appearance of the double chin.

Treatment Sessions

Session 1: At your first treatment session, your provider will administer a series of injections of Belkyra into the fat beneath your chin. The injections are strategically placed to target the area effectively. The procedure usually takes about 15 to 20 minutes.
Session 2: Typically scheduled about 4 to 6 weeks after the first session, the second treatment session follows a similar process to the initial one. Additional injections may be administered as needed to achieve optimal results.
Session 3: The third session is usually scheduled another 4 to 6 weeks after the second session. By this point, you may start to notice visible improvements in the contour of your jawline and reduction in the appearance of your double chin. The final session helps to further refine and enhance the results.

Recovery

After each treatment session, you can expect some degree of swelling, bruising, and discomfort in the treated area. These side effects are normal and usually resolve within a few days to a couple of weeks. Your provider may provide recommendations for managing any discomfort and minimizing swelling during the recovery period.

Results

Over the course of several weeks following the completion of the treatment series, you’ll begin to see noticeable improvements in the contour of your jawline as the fat cells beneath your chin are gradually eliminated by the body’s natural processes.
